چکیده

In this paper, we have studied convectively coupled equatorially trapped waves in rotating stars, with and without magnetic fields. The equatorial hydrodynamic magnetohydrodynamic Poincaré, Rossby, mixed Rossby–Poincaré, Kelvin were identified. effects of stratification nontraditional Coriolis force terms been investigated. When the flow is strongly stratified, wave frequencies model are almost same as those a shallow-water model. However, when weakly constrained by buoyancy frequency. affect widths phases waves. width increases an increasing parameter. Phase shift occurs parameter included. effect significant field strong. We applied solar atmosphere tachocline to explain Rieger-type periodicities. For atmosphere, taken into account, find that should be smaller than 5 G photosphere. Otherwise, periodicities can only attributed long Rossby tachocline, 50 kG observe 160 day Rieger period. addition, not obvious photosphere, but its on significant.

Large-Scale Dynamical Fields Associated with Convectively Coupled Equatorial Waves

Convectively coupled equatorial waves, as previously detected in studies of wavenumber-frequency spectra of tropical clouds, are studied in more detail. Composite dynamical structures of the waves are obtained using linear regression between selectively filtered satellite-observed outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) data, and various fields from a global reanalysis dataset. The selective filterin...

Identifying Convectively Coupled Equatorial Waves Using Theoretical Wave Eigenvectors

Convectively coupled equatorial waves (CCEWs) are often identified by space–time filtering techniques that make use of the eigenvalues of linear shallow water theory. Here, instead, a method is presented for identifying CCEWs by projection onto the eigenvectors of the theory. This method does not use space–time filtering; instead, wave signals corresponding to the first baroclinic Kelvin, Rossb...

A Toy Model of the Instability in the Equatorially Trapped Convectively Coupled Waves on the Equatorial Beta Plane

The equatorial atmospheric variability shows a spectrum of significant peaks in the wavenumber– frequency domain. These peaks have been identified with the equatorially trapped wave modes of rotating shallow water wave theory. This paper addresses the observation that the various wave types (e.g., Kelvin, Rossby, etc.) and wavenumbers show differing signal strength relative to a red background....

Convectively Coupled Equatorial Waves: Analysis of Clouds and Temperature in the Wavenumber–Frequency Domain

A wavenumber-frequency spectrum analysis is performed for all longitudes in the domain 158S–158N using a long (;18 years) twice-daily record of satellite-observed outgoing longwave radiation (OLR), a good proxy for deep tropical convection. The broad nature of the spectrum is red in both zonal wavenumber and frequency. By removing an estimated background spectrum, numerous statistically signifi...

The Impacts of Convective Parameterization and Moisture Triggering on AGCM-Simulated Convectively Coupled Equatorial Waves

This study examines the impacts of convective parameterization and moisture convective trigger on convectively coupled equatorial waves simulated by the Seoul National University (SNU) atmospheric general circulation model (AGCM). Three different convection schemes are used, including the simplified Arakawa–Schubert (SAS) scheme, the Kuo (1974) scheme, and the moist convective adjustment (MCA) ...
